Consumer Affairs Tasmania (CAT) are seeking your input on the Residential Tenancy Amendment Regulations 2025.
Last year, the Residential Tenancy Regulations (the Regulations) were amended to increase flexibility in the employment and accommodation of rural workers. However, last year’s amendments did not include minimum notice periods for the termination of primary production residential tenancy agreements.
The Residential Tenancy Amendment Regulations 2025 propose amending the Regulations by inserting notice requirements for primary production residential tenancy agreements. If made, the proposed amendments would require a primary production residential tenancy agreement to include a provision that parties to the agreement must give 21 days’ notice of an intention to terminate the agreement.
Your feedback on the Residential Tenancy Amendment Regulations 2025 is crucial in helping ensure that any amendments are appropriate and meet the needs of the Tasmanian community.
All written submissions on the Regulations must be received by 11:59pm on Monday 19 May 2025. For full details on the consultation and to submit a response, please visit the Department of Justice community consultation page.
